Homework Policy: Scholars are to show all work on a separate sheet of paper. After they have completed the problems, they are to check their work against the answers and correct their mistakes. Grading is based on the completeness of their work, including showing all work and evidence of corrected mistakes. I reserve the right to begin grading on accuracy if I believe a class of scholars is not checking their work against the online answer key.
Late assignments will receive half-credit until the unit test, after which they will not be accepted for credit. However, scholars must have turned in at least 80% of their homework assignments for any extra credit will be applied to their grade. Past-due assignments, if completed, will count towards the 80% of assignments required for extra credit even if turned in after the unit test.
This article gives a good description of how math homework should be organized and completed: www.purplemath.com/guidline.htm. It also has some examples of acceptable work. The "Homework Guidelines" file, below, comes from that article.
The "Example Assignment" shows what a completed assignment in Algebra 1 should look like, with one exception: the Example Assignment was written in pen, to be better suited for scanning, while all assignments in Algebra 1 should be completed in pencil.
Both of these, and the Notes Tips & Rubric, were also handed out in class.
